Taste Test: Pressed Juicery

Taste Test: Pressed Juicery

I was able to attend an opening of Pressed Juicery. I have been following Pressed Juicery on Instagram for a while now and was so excited to be able to be attend. Pressed Juicery is very minimalist in their approach to a storefront, which completments When you walk in it is simply a bare room with three registers accompanied by three happy and friendyly workers, who are eager to help. Behind them is a large refrigerator similar to the ones you find in the grocery store, where you  will find a plethora of juice flavors. With prices ranging from 6.50-8 dollars a juice, although students get a 15% discount. The juices are made same day at a different location and shipped in.

Their juice descriptions are equally simplistic. Pressed has several categories (Greens, Roots, Fruits, Citrus, Signature, Water, Coffee, Classics, and Coconut). Each category has a few flavors and listed as Greens 1, Greens 1.5, Fruits 2, etc, followed by a list of ingredients that are in each juice.
This approach really allows the consumer to find exactly what they want easily. You can also sample any flavors when you get to the register to ensure you will have a successful experience.

I was able to try a Seasonal blend (green apple, guava, pear, red leaf lettuce, romaine, spinach), two Fruit Blends (Apple, Strawberry, Lime; and Apple Strawberry, Coconut), a Signature Blend called Brazil Nut (Brazil Nut, Dates, Kale, Romaine, Sea Salt, Spinach, and Vanilla Bean), and Roots 3 (Beet, Apple, Lemon, Ginger).

They were all extremely flavorful and delicious. The Brazil Nut is a must try, although it is green, it tastes like a yummy protein shake. The Apple, Strawberry, Lime is a sensory explosion and sure to delight the most hesitant when it comes to juicing.

Pros
Delicious flavors
Lots of choices
Healthy
Opportunity to create a juice cleanse

Cons
Price point is steep
Not made fresh on the spot (which may impact nutrients lost during delivery)

Have you tried Pressed Juicery? Have you tried a cleanse?

Book Review: FIT2FAT2FIT

Book Review: FIT2FAT2FIT

This book title alone holds the reader captivated. The icon of a muscular build increasing in size and then toning out again, is a snapshot of what this book is a bout. Drew Manning, a personal trainer describes his frustrations with clients of his that would sign up to 'make a change,' in their life and after a few short sessions never return and give up. Manning describes a personal experience when he was training a family member of his. This client was doing well and at a family gathering Manning witnesses his client indulging a bit too much in the food, beginning a downward spiral of unhealthy eating soon leading to unhealthy living. One may read this book and see Manning as too hardcore, a tyrant against the food industry. But as the book continues and Manning decides for himself to gain weight and see IS it really THAT hard to start a workout program when you have distanced yourself from training and the gym. Mannine stops exercising and eating healthy and over the course of 6 months gains 75 lbs. He describes himself as tired, apathetic, and depressed. With gaining so much weight, Manning finds himself sabotages his healthy attempts throughout the day:

"I can't do it, it hurts."
"Food will make me feel better."
"I'm too tired to workout."
"I can't do it, it hurts."

My favorite part in the book is a chapter that is written by his wife. She not only sees how it affects Manning, her husband, but herself and their family.

"Don't judge me until you've walked  a mile in my shoes."

Taste Test: Skinnytaste Three Cheese Zucchini Stuffed Lasagna Rolls

 (Skinnytaste)                                                        (Mine)

I found this recipe on Pinterest and was so curious to try it. I had never made lasagna prior to this recipe. As a healthy eater myself, I imagined this would be the best recipe for my family, and it was a instant favorite. Even though it is vegetarian, it packs a lot of cheese which is filling enough and sure to satisfy those carnivores. There were many things that I enjoyed about this recipe. First, it allows you to makes things in steps and prepare ahead. As a momma of a toddler, it makes it easy to prepare the filling ahead of time as well as boiling the Lasagna noodles. Secondly, though this recipe has many steps they are very simple and easy. Lastly, you can make an additional batch to freeze (Directions found here).

I also made her Creamy Cauliflower Puree recipe for dinner as well.

Pros:
Easy
Simple
Delicious
Vegetarian
Filling
Freezable

Cons:
No Meat

Taste Test: PURE bars

Taste Test: Pure Bars

While shopping at Costco, I was looking for some sort of snack for myself. Having a two-year-old, I tend to dip into her tasty treats every now and then, but I was left feeling sluggish and heavy after...(I eat way more than any person should!!). But I wanted something small that I could fit in my purse and carry with me.
I have bought protein bars before, stomaching the "date" taste or indulging in the "partially hydrogenated corn syrup". But neither of these options were what I was really looking for. I stumbled upon Pure Bar and bought a large pack of 15 bars, which included the following flavors: Peanut Butter Chocolate, Chocolate Chunk Nut, Triple Berry Nut.

I really enjoyed all three bars. The obvious favorites were peanut butter chocolate and Chocolate Chunk Nut, but Triple Berry Nut Bar became my favorite as well. This product is satisfying and delicious. It is very tasty, a healthy spin on a Rice Krispy Treat. It combines quinoa, amaranth, flax and
They are also gluten free, kosher, vegan, and organic. Can you really ask for more? They have a bunch more flavors that I am eager to try.

A very tasty treat!

Pros:
Delicious taste
Healthy
Vegan
Kosher
Organic
Satisfying

Cons:
None :)

Stay Fit,
