App Review: Under Armour Record

App Review: Under Armour Record

Under Armour is an up and coming brand. It seems like their presence is everywhere. They recently created a basketball shoe for Stephan Curry. You can find it here. Along with adding athletes to their brand, they have created great attention with their new app, Record. Under Armour recently acquired MapMyFitness, Endomodo, and My Fitness Pal. This is quite a large acquisition, I have used all three apps and found that Record has a similar structure to MapMyFitness.  A great aspect of Record allows you to connect a large variety of devices to enhance personal fitness tracking.

You can see that Under Armour allows for the user to connect a large variety of devices and apps, including MyFitnessPal.

You can also track and log workouts and view your workouts on a feed. The feed allows you to choose between your feed and viewing your friend's feed, allowing the user to comment and like a workout.

The app also allows you to log your weight, take/upload photos and videos, track and log workouts, create posts, and log sleep. It is a comprehensive app and allows for you to also choose and create challenges that may be personal or with friedns that you invite to join.

I used MapMyFitness for running and found that it often had the best GPS tracking than my other apps (Nike+ and Strava). Record seems to be just as accurate in their GPS tracking. I really like the options that Record has for tracking and logging workouts, you can log stroller, dog, race, and distance runs as well as adding a variety of classes too.

Pros
Easy to use
Connect a variety of devices
Accurate GPS tracking
Tracks Sleep, Weight, Exercise
Ability to create challenges to complete

Cons
Not all apps and devices are available to connect

Workout Wear: Under Armour HeatGear Sonic All-In-One Capri

Workout Wear: Under Armour HeatGear Sonic All-In-One Capri

My husband bought these on Amazon for me at Christmas time. I was so excited to receive another addition to my workout wardrobe. I must say these were a winner for several reasons. First, these fit over the knee and are known as crops or capris. This type of running pant is great for those mid range temperatures (40-75 degrees Fahrenheit). These pants especially are great because they don't rid up your leg as you are running. Many times I find that my capris/crops hike up my leg and begin to bunch. These pants fit well and are a second skin. They are not compression, so do not provide any benefits that come with compression tights.  Thirdly, they possess an anti-microbial technology that allows for each wash to completely rid the pants of their last run smell. In addition, they are also a great wear to prevent chaffing do to runners where shorts. I like the addition of a hint of pink too. These pants are SPF 30+, part of the HeatGear nature (designed to regulate core temperature and keep you dry and enhance performance in any workout).

I did read some reviews on this product that suggested a close check on the size chart. There were complaints about the pants not fitting. This was not the case for me.

Pros
Tight fit
A touch of color
Long lasting and are able to be rid of smells (anti-microbial)
HeatGear technology
SPF 30+

Cons
No ventilation or breathability patches
Not compression
No pockets to store small items like keys

Winter Styles: How to Look Hot in Cold Temps

Winter Looks of 2015!

1.Tulip Chi Tank in Shocking Pink by Athleta $44
2. Gypsy Jag by K. Deer $98
3. In A Flash Bra II by Lululemon $52
4. The Infinity Scarf (Zebra/Neon) by Fabletics $14.95
6. Sports Tank Top in Blue/Leopard Print by H & M $9.95
7. Austin Wrap by Fabletics $49.95
8. Lisa Merino Racerback Tank Yellow by Vie Active $55.30
9. Snapshot Crew by Lululemon $128

It's clear this winter that animal prints are still very in. I've seen then everywhere: shorts, pants, sports bras, jackets, tops. The other trend that I am starting to see is detailed tops. Athleta has the Tulip Chi Tank in Shocking Pink (featured above, but also in in light blue and black). Albion Fit also has Petal Pants and Top that you can find here. Both Under Armour and Forever 21 are featuring a new look on the sweat pant, a sleeker chic type of sweat pant.

Shoe Review: Under Armour Micro G Neo Mantis

Shoe Review: Under Armour Micro G Neo Mantis

A lightweight shoe that packs power. When I ordered these shoes I wanted gobsmacked sure I ordered a road shoe that has some stabilization qualities, but also allowed for ease. When I received them in was a little worried that the tread was too thin and would wear off within a few runs. I'm glad to say that's having  held up well after nearly 100 miles.

These shoes fit well and are very comfortable. I have  lots of space in the toe be  of the shoe, but are snug around the arch. A perfect fit.

Also this shoe gave  me no issues as I began to break in these shoes. I am always thrilled when I buy new running shoes and can't wait to break them in, but hate when I come back from a run sore an  with aches and pains. These shoes HAD NONE of those problems.

Here is data from some of my runs:

Pros:
Lightweight
Great fit
Good support
Comfortable
Tread is durable
Price: 68 (as of 1/8/15)

Cons:
Low tread (which means shortest shoe life)

I also rotate my shoes, which helps increase their life span (these really are my babies :).

Do you rotate your shoes? If so, how often?

These thoughts are my own. I was not compensated for these shoes.

Shoe Review: Under Armour Speedform Gemini

Shoe Review: Under Armour Speedform Gemini

This is the 5th edition in the Speedform family following: Speedform RC, Speedform XC, Speedform StudioLux, and Speedform Apollo.

This shoe fits like a glove. It's light, but still has a bit of cushion, allowing the runner to have some stability, but some great spring in their stride as well.

This shoe is the 5th shoe of Under Armour that I have used and I am a huge fan. A very comfy shoe that is like a second skin. I experienced no shin splints, ankle soreness, or knee pain while wearing these shoes. When running in new shoes, I have found that it takes a few runs to adjust to the shoe. Some shoes come with a few of the above injuries for the first few miles, but eventually find their stride.

The Speedform Gemini was a relief to slip on a pair and just get me.. Sounds so strange, but after the many shoes and miles I've run, it's tough to find a pair of shoes that you find both comfort and speed with. Also I recovered well after my run.  Here is data from my runs with these shoes:

This is a wonderful shoe for both novice and seasoned runners. It eases you into whatever pace and mileage you have for the day!

Pros:
Lightweight
Fits like second skin
Adapted quickly with no negative side effects

Cons:
Medium support

Keep fit,

The Fithusiast

These thoughts are my own. I did receive these shoes for free from Under Armour/Map My Fitness.
