Shoe Review: Under Armour Micro G Neo Mantis

Shoe Review: Under Armour Micro G Neo Mantis

A lightweight shoe that packs power. When I ordered these shoes I wanted gobsmacked sure I ordered a road shoe that has some stabilization qualities, but also allowed for ease. When I received them in was a little worried that the tread was too thin and would wear off within a few runs. I'm glad to say that's having  held up well after nearly 100 miles.

These shoes fit well and are very comfortable. I have  lots of space in the toe be  of the shoe, but are snug around the arch. A perfect fit.

Also this shoe gave  me no issues as I began to break in these shoes. I am always thrilled when I buy new running shoes and can't wait to break them in, but hate when I come back from a run sore an  with aches and pains. These shoes HAD NONE of those problems.

Here is data from some of my runs:

Pros:
Lightweight
Great fit
Good support
Comfortable
Tread is durable
Price: 68 (as of 1/8/15)

Cons:
Low tread (which means shortest shoe life)

I also rotate my shoes, which helps increase their life span (these really are my babies :).

Do you rotate your shoes? If so, how often?

These thoughts are my own. I was not compensated for these shoes.

Workout Wear: Balega Hidden Comfort Socks

Workout Wear: Balega Hidden Comfort Socks

This will be the second pair of Balega socks that I own. These are truly magcal. I won't say taht they make you faster (although I do run faster when I wear them because I'm so excited). These are socks that get you excited about running. The are soft and thick, but are breathable. Although they may feel a little sweaty after a long run, I don't feel any discomfort (maybe that's the hidden comfort)

Looking at the sock it looks like any other comfy sock, but upon closer inspection you begin to see all the goodness. There are three styles of weaving on the top of the sock. There is a thick band across the top of the foot, below the toes, that has some pocketed stitching, creating air flow. Above, below and to the sides of that is another type of stitching. This is much more thin when stretched than the previous band described. There is also a V-shaped pattern on both the above and below the thicker band in the center. This creates a bit of a pull, so as to hold the thinner stitching together.

The bottom and part of the top of the sock features no stitching. I like this feature. I do appreciate the socks that features compression bands around the arch of the foot, but sometimes  they cause pain to my foot. This sock doesn't have that issue. I feel like I'm at a spa when I wear this socks. It also has that thicker band above the heal, preventing blisters from occurring when wearing shoes.

The inside feels and looks like a little towel. This is probably to collect any moisture that is released during those heart pumping workouts. Another reason they may feel damp upon removal.

This is such an amazing sock, you'll not want to take it off.

Pros:
Soft
Comfortable
Breathable
Prevents blisters
Thick

Cons:
Feel damp after longer wears
Pilling after a few washes

How do socks help your workout?

Workout Wear: CrossTraining Tank

I was lucky enough to have won a giveaway on Instagram and win a Cross Training Tank. I have been following Cross Training  Couture for a while now! Love their interpretation of scripture through the lens of a fitness enthusiast like myself. I won the following product:

I must say that even though I liked the look of it. The feel of this tank is so much better. It comes up to the chest, just enough to cover a sport bra. It is a very thin cotton and fits loosely, allowing it to flow with you through downward dog or Kettlebell swings. I love the detail of the back where it gathers just below the neck. I find this to be a bit of a feminine tough, and much appreciate it during my seat sessions. It is long enough to cover the entire torso and a bit further.  A wonderful treat to keep you feeling dainty in even the toughest of poses.

Pros:
Soft material
Great design
Feminine detail
Longer torso
Loose

Cons:
Loose ( may expose core in inversion poses)

Taste Test: PURE bars

Taste Test: Pure Bars

While shopping at Costco, I was looking for some sort of snack for myself. Having a two-year-old, I tend to dip into her tasty treats every now and then, but I was left feeling sluggish and heavy after...(I eat way more than any person should!!). But I wanted something small that I could fit in my purse and carry with me.
I have bought protein bars before, stomaching the "date" taste or indulging in the "partially hydrogenated corn syrup". But neither of these options were what I was really looking for. I stumbled upon Pure Bar and bought a large pack of 15 bars, which included the following flavors: Peanut Butter Chocolate, Chocolate Chunk Nut, Triple Berry Nut.

I really enjoyed all three bars. The obvious favorites were peanut butter chocolate and Chocolate Chunk Nut, but Triple Berry Nut Bar became my favorite as well. This product is satisfying and delicious. It is very tasty, a healthy spin on a Rice Krispy Treat. It combines quinoa, amaranth, flax and
They are also gluten free, kosher, vegan, and organic. Can you really ask for more? They have a bunch more flavors that I am eager to try.

A very tasty treat!

Pros:
Delicious taste
Healthy
Vegan
Kosher
Organic
Satisfying

Cons:
None :)

Shoe Review: Under Armour Speedform Gemini

Shoe Review: Under Armour Speedform Gemini

This is the 5th edition in the Speedform family following: Speedform RC, Speedform XC, Speedform StudioLux, and Speedform Apollo.

This shoe fits like a glove. It's light, but still has a bit of cushion, allowing the runner to have some stability, but some great spring in their stride as well.

This shoe is the 5th shoe of Under Armour that I have used and I am a huge fan. A very comfy shoe that is like a second skin. I experienced no shin splints, ankle soreness, or knee pain while wearing these shoes. When running in new shoes, I have found that it takes a few runs to adjust to the shoe. Some shoes come with a few of the above injuries for the first few miles, but eventually find their stride.

The Speedform Gemini was a relief to slip on a pair and just get me.. Sounds so strange, but after the many shoes and miles I've run, it's tough to find a pair of shoes that you find both comfort and speed with. Also I recovered well after my run.  Here is data from my runs with these shoes:

This is a wonderful shoe for both novice and seasoned runners. It eases you into whatever pace and mileage you have for the day!

Pros:
Lightweight
Fits like second skin
Adapted quickly with no negative side effects

Cons:
Medium support

Keep fit,

The Fithusiast

These thoughts are my own. I did receive these shoes for free from Under Armour/Map My Fitness.
